Critique

Giving good feedback

What makes critique on Designed actually useful.

The best critique is specific and kind at the same time — see the Code of Conduct for the fuller version of "be respectful while giving and receiving feedback."

  • Say what you're reacting to, not just that you like or dislike it — "the CTA button doesn't stand out against the background" is actionable; "not feeling it" isn't.
  • Ask before assuming — if you're not sure why a decision was made, ask instead of critiquing a constraint the designer didn't choose.
  • Separate taste from usability — it's fine to say a choice isn't your taste, just say so explicitly rather than presenting it as an objective flaw.
