About Me

I'm a design leader who came up through social work and anthropology, and I start where that training taught me to start: understand people before you propose anything for them. I've spent 27 years shipping in medical devices, consumer electronics, and SaaS. That includes insulin pump software at Medtronic, 11 years at Belkin building the UX team behind Linksys and Wemo, and most recently Invoca, where I led a design team through an AI product transformation. Along the way I've built the teams and processes that make design work inside organizations that weren't built for it. Talk to me if you're pivoting into design, moving from IC toward leadership, building technical fluency, or figuring out what strong design practice looks like as AI reshapes team structures and tools. I mentor mostly by asking the questions you should be asking, and I'll give you a direct read when that's what you need. I mentor by asking questions, learning about you first.
