You can report a news story

Every story has a Report option now. Pick what is wrong, add a sentence if you want to, and a person on the team reads it. The story stays up unless a reviewer decides otherwise.

Until now there was no way to tell us a story did not belong. Comments had a bare Flag button — one click, no reason — and stories did not have even that. Behind the scenes a flag only nudged a counter in the ranking, so "this is spam" and "I disagree with this" were the same signal, and neither reached a person.

Report opens a dialog that names the story, so you can see you have the right one before you send it. You choose a category, and you can say why in your own words, but you do not have to: reporting a link should take one tap, not a paragraph. Reports go into the same moderation queue as job reports, where someone on the team reads each one.

The dialog says plainly what happens next: the story stays up unless a reviewer acts. If you are signed out, it asks you to sign in rather than doing nothing, and it only says Reported once the report has actually arrived.
